Indoor pumps
Indoor pumps are mostly used as the fountain pumps. These indoor pumps are available in many varieties. They are usually compact and are recommended for indoor use only. Indoor fountains sometimes have 2-wire and sometimes 3-wire plugs. For people wanting a really thin cord, 2-wire pumps provide the more aesthetic experience. Some retail stores require 3-wire pumps even for indoor fountains, and plants, stones, or other decorations can hide these thicker cords. All pumps must be connected to a GFI outlet for safety.
There are many factors that should be considered before buying an indoor pump. These factors are GPH, GPM, Head, and Pump curve, Water Volume etc. The head is the maximum vertical lift of the pump. For example, a 6' head means the pump is rated to pump water up to 6 feet high. GPH is Gallons per hour, usually rated at different heights and GPM is gallons per minute. Pump curve is the amount of water volume that is curved according to the different heights. Water volume can be controlled by few factors, like size of the pump, tube width (that can be measured as inside diameter and outside diameter), tube length etc. When purchasing a pump, find out what size of tubing is supposed to go with it as small size tube can restrict the flow whereas, long length of tubing can also create resistance.
